This 2-story apartment building located near the University of California in Berkeley was presented to BCS to perform a deck strengthening and seismic retrofit of various components of the building pertaining to the deck. The project called for the installation of new steel beams to replace existing cantilevered beams as well as to add new, stronger structural beams at various locations of the elevated deck and integrate them into the existing deck components. Additionally, the project called for new concrete piers and some replacement of the framing. In order to perform the work, stucco demo was required, and the appropriate lathe tie back was required to maintain the appropriate weather barrier.
